ARA-290 (Cibinetide)
Overview
ARA-290, also known as cibinetide, is a synthetic 11-amino-acid peptide derived from the helix-B region of erythropoietin (EPO). It was engineered to engage the innate repair receptor while lacking EPO's erythropoietic, or red-blood-cell-stimulating, activity, which gives it a research-friendly profile as a tool for separating tissue-protective signaling from hematopoietic effects.
In preclinical models ARA-290 has been studied for its relationship to the innate repair receptor and the tissue-protection and neuropathy pathways associated with it. Researchers examining EPO-derived signaling have used it as a research material to characterize how this non-hematopoietic fragment interacts with its target in cell-based and animal systems.
